Daisy's Tale
Daisy is a 1996 110 300TDI three door Land Rover Defender who came into our lives in 2022. She was previously owned from new by our neighbour Rod and she spent her working life transporting cetaceans (dolphins, whales and porpoises) and other marine life that had washed up on the welsh coastline to London for examination to build up a picture of the marine life ecosystem in the sea around Wales. If you have been to the Natural History Museum in London UK and seen the blue marlin on display, Daisy transported this unusual visitor to our shores to London after it was unfortunately washed up on a Pembrokeshire beach.
After a long life of service on and off the beaches in Wales she was in need of some TLC and so over the last two years we have been restoring her so she will keep going for many years to come and converting her into our camper ready to set off on some adventures..
Phil's Tale
Where am I ? Now…. When am I ? Now….How did I get here ? 50+ laps around a ball of fire humans call the Sun… ?
Or from another perspective… In the Spring of the year called 1972, in a Little Hospital in Wantage Oxfordshire England, I first arrived in the arms of my loving parents. Together with two big sisters, we grew up in a warm loving and comfortable home. My Father was a founding partner in an engineering business designing and building electric vehicles, life was a dream, with holidays to what were for us beautiful and adventurous places to go, but then my father passed on to a greater perspective when I was seven years old…and life appeared to become a whirlwind just carrying me along. I found myself at a boarding school, and going on to college completing an apprenticeship as an agricultural engineer, I even made it to university to study mechanical engineering, where reality just caught up and I realised mechanics or engineering as a trade really wasn’t for me. Loving meeting new people and learning to dance a path through life, I really enjoyed driving and so became a delivery driver for a trade, and started to study philosophy for living instead. Finding opportunity and adventure in the seemingly random in life, as well as letting go of what felt like more than a life time of expectations, I discovered a more philosophical perspective of our relationship with time and clinging to this rock, finding faith in the synchronicity of beautiful infinite chaos.
Following synchronicities has brought opportunities I could never have expected, with thanks, I have met some of the most beautiful friends I could imagine.. and the best of them has become my wife.
Caroline's Tale
I appeared somewhat late in my parents life being their 5th child and arriving just before my father’s retirement from a military career . Luckily for me I spent part of my childhood travelling with them in their Toyota camper van with its pop top experiencing the wonders of new places and people.
Since that time I’ve always had a somewhat nomadic existence living in many different parts of the UK. Each move appearing at just the right time to help me grow and explore new previously unthought of directions in life. I have been blessed to have had such a long and rewarding career as a physiotherapist which all started from being bored working in an office, a book and a chance meeting, that’s enabled me to travel around the UK while still earning a living and I also teach yoga, again this happened through another set of synchronistic events. I’ve always had a fascination with the link between the body mind and spirit and the energy that connects all of life.
I practice meditation and yoga, laugh and play feeling gratitude that despite having health challenges over this last year which although have delayed our travel plans have given us more time to prepare, I am still able to find the joy in living in the present moment with all the wonder that it brings.
Although my parents are no longer on this earthly plane their adventurous spirit is still an inspiration and now life opportunities are hopefully coming together so that we can move into a different phase of life where travelling the world can become a reality with my amazing best friend who also just happens to be my husband Phil, our dog Purdey, cat Luna in our defender called Daisy.
